Climate
Mediterranean climate with an Atlantic influence. Very cold winters and very warm hot summers.
Winemaking
Hand-harvested and stored in 10kg crates for transportation to the winery. Bunches are sorted by the winery and chilled for 24 hours in a cold chamber to prevent oxidation and minimize SO2 required at the press. Bunches are partially destemmed (but not crushed) and partially maintained whole for the press, which is carried out in a horizontal pneumatic press. The must undergoes a static settling in stainless steel before being racked to puncheon and demi-muid (500L & 600L), 33.33% new, and inoculated with a pied de cuve started with neutral yeast. Fermentation is carried out at low temperaturas and MLF is blocked.
Aging
7 to 8 months sur lie in French oak barrels (500 – 600L respectively)
Comments
Produced with the oldest and most traditional vineyards of Valdeorras, Avancia Nobleza Godello represents the authentic history of Valdeorras and the oldest clones of Godello in the world. A unique white wine with exceptional cellaring capacity. The Godello variety was in danger of extinction in the late 80's, therefore it is extremely difficult to find Godello produced from a vineyard planted in 1940.
