Farmed completely manually and organically, with only minor usage of copper sulfate. Guyot training.
Limestone rich marl
Continental with influences from the Atlantic Ocean
Destemmed bunches ferment in 50% concrete vat and 50% open top neutral foudres. The Garnacha is exclusively fermented and macerated in concrete vat. The varieties ferment and age separately.
Once the wine is blended, ageing lasts 18 months in the fermentation vessel (50% concrete vat, 50% neutral foudre). The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, and is aged for 12 months in the bottle before release.
La Raya is the Alvear family's Grand Cru expression of Extremadura Alentejana, where their work has been critical in resuscitating the cultivation and vinification of traditional Portuguese varieties in the southwest of the Iberian peninsula.
